Sterling was purchased by Patricia in the Fall of 2015. Patricia had just retired and was looking for a puppy that she could have fun with at the JRTCC and the JRTCA trials. The puppy that I choose for Patricia had more then surpassed both of our expectations. Sterling is a very focused dog that loves to please. Below is a quick reflection of Sterling's accomplishments to date told by his owner Patricia:
As 2017 comes to a close, a quick reflection of Sterling’s first 2 years shows how much he accomplished. Sterling has always given a cooperative and playful spirt-eager to learn new things. Positive training methods have developed a relationship of mutual trust and respect.
A special award goes to Lynda Rupay for her valuable hours of teaching, practice and handling this boy at trials.👏👏
URO1 “Reynard’s Folly Sterling“ SPOT, CGN, PCD, CD, RN, RI, RA, CA, CRN, NTD, ITD
Also Sterling ended the year as the #1 Jack Russell Terrier in Rally Obedience. (CKC-CCN)
Looking forward in 2018 to continuing Obedience, Rally Obedience and Tracking with the addition of Tricks and Agility and of course, the JRT trials.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To start off 2018 Sterling has earned two tricks titles NTD and ITD. Way to go Sterling.
As 2018 comes to a close the fun this year was keeping Sterling busy throughout his adolescent stage. The year was full of activities to develop his capabilities, confidence, focus and engagement - while still leaving time for playing with his family, camping, hiking and swimming. Sterling went to many new trials and events and even participated in Halloween dress-up and two community Christmas parades.
2018 achievements included:
Novice Trick Dog and Intermediate Trick Dog titles, Chase Ability title, Sprinter title, JRTCA titles in Novice Obedience and Novice Rally Obedience (2nd place in both at the US National Trial, continuing to excel at the JRTCC National Trial bringing home a Rally-O Reserve Championship. Go to Ground is one of his favorite events - placing 2nd at both the JRTCA and the JRTCC national trials. Being a "ball" crazy dog he showed well scoring 1st in his class and fastest trial time overall at Ball Retrieval, JRTCA US Nationals.

2019 plans are to proof his learning and expand on skills into the next levels of rally, obedience, and sprinter. Looking forward to moving into his early adult years now that he has turned 3 years old!

Throughout 2019 Reynard's Folly Sterling continues to be a delightful JRT. His training in Obedience and Rally Obedience (now working at the highest levels) has been such a strong foundation for so many other activities. The focus this year was to build confidence and progress into more challenging events as well as getting comfortable with a variety of trial venues. Sterling shows increased ability to connect and follow instructions at a distance and he enjoys attention - once again he celebrated the Christmas holidays by participating in the local Santa Claus parade where he was a hit with the children watching.
2019 Achievements include:
JRTCC National Trial: Reserve Best Rally 1, Best Rally 11, Champion Ball Retrieval Adult Tall, Reserve Best Brush Hunt Adult and placement ribbons in Lure Coursing, Trailing & Locating and Go to Ground Certificate Adult.
JRTCA National Trial: Reserve Champion Ball Retrieval, Obedience Open 2nd place, Brush Hunt 5th place.
Midwest Summer Celebration JRTCA Trial: Go to Ground Open Adult placed 1st and 2nd over two days, Rally Obedience 11 placed 2nd, and Novice Agility placed 3rd.
Successfully achieved new certificates and new titles: Sprinter (next level with a speed of 42.34 km/hr), Advanced & Expert trick titles Do More with Your Dog, Go to Ground Certificate (JRTCA), Obedience Certificate (JRTCA), Rally Certificate (JRTCA).
The sport of Carting. Sterling is a delight to try new activities with as he is eager to be where there is action happening. Teaching a dog to pull a cart is quite involved as they need to get used to the weight and sound of something behind them. We suited him up with a custom fit harness and custom built cart for his small size. Sterling was a quick learner starting with pulling a light bar and then progressed to an empty wheeled cart.
As we head into 2020 plans are to add Agility games to his repertoire. His initial training shows that he enjoys the tunnels and jumps so more exploration will be done this coming year.
Sending some pictures of him and shots of a couple of gifts he received in recognition of his busy life! We are so pleased with this little boy and truly appreciate what a great start he got in life. You are an amazing breeder who takes time to ensure puppies are well prepared to begin their lives with new families.

2020 Summary - Sterling just turning 5 years old has earned the following titles:
TDCH, U-ROL Reynard's Folly Sterling SPOT, CGN, PCD, CD, AKC-RN, AKC-RI, RN,RI,RA,CA, NS,S,AS,SE1,SE2, CRN, NTD,ITD,ATD,ETD, CCF1, CCF2, JRTCA R01, JRTCA PNO, JRTCA GtG Certificate, JRTCC GtG Certificate
Sterling has developed into a confident, playful young adult. He is eager to please and always willing to try new tasks. A puppy has been added to his family and he is totally enthralled with her - teaching her everything he knows (the good & the bad 😜)!!!
Unfortunately the COVID19 pandemic greatly impacted opportunities for training and trialing as venues were cancelled during 2020. Luckily Sterling was able to participate in a few outdoor events and continue some private lessons safely. Our focus turned to online offers where you can submit videos for formal judging to certify ability and earn titles.
2020 Achievements include:
Do More With Your Dog Expert Trick Dog, and Trick Dog Champion levels
Do More With Your Dog Canine Conditioning Fitness Level 1 and Fitness Level 2
SPRINTER (CKC) Advanced Level, and Excellent Level 1 plus Excellent Level 2
RALLY O-BEDIENCE (AKC) Rally Novice and Rally Intermediate levels
What to look forward to next year?
It appears that the pandemic restrictions will continue for at least the first 6 months of 2021. We will stay focused with online virtual activities and participate in private sessions when safe. Sterling has recently been introduced to Scent Detection and shows great promise in having the skills to start trialing soon. Lynda Rupay, is looking forward to these new adventures with him -
Sending a couple of new pictures showing 2020 titles/ribbons, tunnel work, his new best friend, and a Christmas card shot.
Again we are grateful for the care you take in breeding JRT's that have both a balanced temperament and are physically healthy. Sterling is always receiving compliments on his sweet personality and graceful body movements.
